Retinols

Retinol (C20H30O) increases cell turnover, improves texture, and stimulates collagen synthesis making it a go-to for signs of aging and acne.

Dosage form: Creams, encapsulated serums, prescription gels.

Most common indications:

  • Wrinkles and fine lines

  • Acne

  • Rough or uneven texture

Common products:

  • The Ordinary Retinol in Squalane

  • ROC Retinol Night Cream

  • Differin Gel (Adapalene)

Real-life application:
Used 2–3 nights a week, retinols help fade hyperpigmentation and soften deep lines over time.

Caution: May cause purging or peeling initially—start with low strength and always use SPF during the day.
